The Van Dyke

Website (if available)

Description

With the continuing mission to make every fourth pub in Bristol a Wetherspoons, the Van Dyke is their Fishponds outpost. It’s...well, it’s a Wetherspoons. Cheap food, cheap drink and a bewildering mix of people. Due to its closeness, this is the favoured establishment for St Matt’s students, and will almost always have a fair few every night of the week. Its prime distinguishing feature is a school of fish hanging from the ceiling, which students have been planning to steal since time began. There is plenty available to eat, and the service is usually timely, but the Van Dyke has an unfortunate tendency to be low on ingredients (this pub has been known to be lacking the banana for a banana split). Aside from that, it’s a fine pub, and the traditional follow-on spot after St Matt’s Drink the Bar Dry.
