The Guide

Maps/Routes

Bristol cycle maps are available from all UWE libraries; if this is not the case please contact uwepeopleandplanet@yahoo.co.uk .

Maps should also be available from Bristol council libraries. Cycle paths can provide shortcuts for cyclists and help you avoid cars. However, it is highly advised that you do not cycle alone in the dark along these paths.

-Bristol-Bath Railway Path. This cycle path runs from Bristol city centre, through Easton and Fishponds on its way to Bath. This path is particularly useful for the cyclists travelling to/from either the St Matthias or Glenside campuses (Fishponds) from Bristol city centre or Bath.

-Hewitt/Packard Path. This cycle path runs from the southwest of Frenchay campus (behind the education building) to the top of Romney Avenue in Lockleaze. This is particularly useful when travelling to the Frenchay campus from Bristol city centre or the Horfield area.

- Path to Bower Ashton. This cycle path runs from the CREATE centre in Hotwells, over the water and under the main road (and over another bridge) and out within a few hundred metres of Bower. Miss out all the nasty main roads.

There are of course many, many cycle routes around Bristol- check out the Bristol Cyclist Map for more details.
