Kat's Election Manifesto - 2006
Election manifesto from Feb 2006
I'm in my final year studying Psychology. I'm currently the President of the Hockey Club, a member of the kickboxing club, an intra-mural netball player and I am a member of student staff in the activities centre.
I'm very passionate about sport and from being involved in the union I really care about what is going on in sports clubs (other than those I'm involved in). I already have knowledge and understand the requirements of the position and really feel that I could bring so much to the role of sports president.
Aims:
* Strive for developing your sports clubs and sport to increase your sporting successes and enjoyment
* Maximize and encourage more involvement from you in sport at all levels
* Aim to continue to implement the constitution, focusing on and developing sports council
* Raise the funds provided for our sports clubs - as there is never enough!
* Targeting you, ensuring you get effective use of increasing opportunities created by new sports facilities
Manifesto:
So why me?:
- I've worked in the Activities Centre for the last three years, and work with the current sports president and activities centre staff, and I'm already involved in helping to run and maintain the sports clubs, organization of freshers fair, sports awards dinner, varsity events and the implementation of yearly BUSA fixtures
- I'm currently the president of the Hockey Club and a member of the Kickboxing club and an Intra-mural netball player
- I'm hardworking, organized, sociable, friendly, open and determined
All of these positions and activities have given me invaluable experience and this makes me an ideal candidate for the role of sports president and I'm looking for a fresh and new exciting challenge that will enable me to give back to the student community
I want to:
- Develop your sports clubs by increasing the profile of our clubs in the university and encouraging increased membership to them
- Encourage more student involvement in sport at all levels by ensuring every union member is aware of all sporting and exercise facilities and opportunities and benefits that are available to them
- Continue implementing the constitution by developing sports council, ensuring it continues working effectively
- Raise the funds provided for our sports clubs through negotiations with the university and through sponsorship of sporting events
- Ensure you get effective use of increasing opportunities created by the new sports facilities by liaising with the university and ensuring they are aware of your needs.
