UWESU affiliates to the National Union of Students and therefore is a Constituent Member and entitled to elect a delegation of up to 11 student members to attend the Annual Conference.

National Conference sets the policy of NUS. Motions are submitted under the following headings Education, Welfare, Union Development, Global Citizenship, Reform and Miscellaneous. Elections are held for the offices of the National Executive and Steering Committees.
