Why Should I Stand For Election?

There are a number of reasons why standing for election is a good idea. Including"¦

1) It looks fantastic on your CV for starters, as employers sit up and take notice when you mention the words 'Executive Officer'. They will be very impressed, no matter what position you held.

2) You get to be an individual. Rather than leave UWE after your course has ended with a piece of paper, you will already have got yourself a job, and by working for the Union you will be in charge of making sure UWE is improved for all other students. You will have become more than just a student number - you will not belong to the 'roll in, roll out' system of students at UWE.

3) You get to make a difference for everybody else - it is you who will have input on how UWE will look in ten years time, it is your name that will go on documents shaping the future, it is you who will be able to stand up and say, 'I did this' at a time when most of your friends will still be temping.

4) Because, most of all, the Union is run by students - and this means YOU.

Oh yeah we forgot to mention you get paid a decent wedge too!
