15. The Activities Council
There shall be an Activities Council the membership and functions of which shall be as follows:
15.1 Membership
The members who shall be entitled to vote at meetings shall be:
- The Chairperson of the Activities Council;
- One representative of each affiliated society;
- The chairperson of each of the Site Activities Committee and the Residence Activities Committee;
- Two representatives from each sub committee of the Activities Council;
15.2 Functions
- To serve as the mechanism through which the views of students who are involved in Union facilitated non-sporting activities are actively canvassed and identified;
- To consider matters relating to and impacting on the extra curricular experience of students of the University;
- To promote and facilitate the development and provision of extra-curricula activity at all faculties and campuses of the University;
- To promote and facilitate the development and provision of a programme of entertainment and events and to maintain and support a sub-committee to this end;
- To promote and facilitate the opportunity for students to be involved in the student media and to maintain and support a sub-committee to this end;
- To serve as the mechanism through which the views of students as to the extra-curricular experience are effectively communicated to the Directorate of the University and through the decision-making processes of the University;
- To consider applications from students wishing to establish a society for affiliation to the Activities Council;
- To plan, allocate and control the budget of the Activities Council in compliance with Law 8 and Law 9;
- To establish such sub-committees as it deems appropriate and to establish procedures for the operation of those sub-committees;
- To present reports to the Board of Trustees and to the Annual General Meeting;
- To elect from its members a deputy to the chairperson
- To elect a representative to and to receive reports from the Ethics and Quality Committee
15.3 Quorum
A quorum of 50%+1 of members shall be attained before any business may be transacted
