Student Representative Council
Information on the membership and functions of the student representative council.
9. The Student Representative Council
There shall be a Student Representative Council the membership and functions of which shall be as follows:
9.1 MembershipTthe members who shall be entitled to vote at meetings shall be:
The Chairperson of the Student Representative Council;
- The Deputy Chairperson of the Student Representative Council;
- The Chairperson and three further representatives of each Faculty Student Council as elected by the Faculty Student Councils.
9.2 Functions
To serve as the mechanism through which the views of the student members of the University are actively canvassed and identified;
- To consider matters concerning the educational experience of students;
- To consider reports from the Faculty Student Councils ;
- To consider reports from the student members of the Academic Board and its sub-committees;
- To serve as the mechanism through which the views of students are effectively communicated to the Directorate of the University and through the decision-making processes of the University;
- To elect the student members of the Board of Governors and its sub-committees in addition to those students who are members ex officio;
- To elect the student members of the Academic Board and its sub committees in addition to those students who are members ex officio;
- To elect delegates to attend external meetings and conferences as representatives of the Union;
- To inform the Board of Trustees on matters concerning the educational experience of students;
- To establish such sub-committees as it deems appropriate and to establish procedures for the operation of those sub-committees;
- To present reports to the Board of Trustees and to the Annual General Meeting
- To elect a representative to and to receive reports from the Ethics and Quality Committee;
- To receive reports from, and to hold accountable, members of the Council elected to represent the student view to the University and the wider community.
9.3 Quorum
a quorum of 50%+1 of members shall be attained before any business may be transacted
