Law 12: Definitions and Interpretations

Definitions and Interpretations

For the avoidance of doubt terms shall be interpreted as having the following meanings:

"Student Representative duly recognised by both the Faculty and the Union": shall mean a student elected/selected through the processes agreed between The University, the Faculties of the University and the Students' Union as the representative of the students enrolled on designated programme of study.

"Chairperson of the Student Representative Council ": shall be known as the President of the Student Representative Council

"Deputy Chairperson of the Student Representative Council " shall be known as the Vice-President of the Student Representative Council

"Academic Board": shall mean the Academic Board of the University of the West of England

"affiliated sports club": shall mean a club with the purpose of pursuing sport or recreation which has been duly recognised as an affiliate club of the Sports Council

"Chairperson of the Sports Council ": shall be known as the Sports President

"Chairperson of the Activities Council ": shall be known as the Activities President

"campus": shall mean the separate geographical locations of the University of the West of England

"site": shall mean the separate geographical locations of the University of the West of England

"University residence or group of residence": shall mean the buildings within which students are provided with residential accommodation under the auspices of the University of the West of England

"the General Manager of the Union": shall be the senior member of the Union's permanent staff appointed by the Board of Trustees

"Chairperson of the Student Representative Council , Deputy Chairperson of the Student Representative Council , Chairperson of the Sports Council and Chairperson of the Activities Council ": shall be deemed to be "holders of "paid elected union office" for the purposes of Clause 22.(2) (f) of the Education Act 1994.
