Student Rep Payment
Student Reps, duly recognised by both the faculty and the Union will be paid an allowance of £6.27 per hour (including holiday pay) to attend defined Faculty and Union rep meetings.
However you must turn up to trainings to be able to get paid.
Provided we have received all the required information from you and the faculty have supplied us with confirmation of your attendance, you will be eligible to be paid at one of our three annual payment points, just before Christmas, Easter, and during the summer.
Reps will receive an attendance allowance for attending duly recognised rep meetings. The Inland Revenue deems this attendance allowance to be taxable. Student reps are under no obligation to receive the attendance allowance. Student reps are not engaged under a contract of employment with the Student Union. As there is no contract of employment reps are not obliged to perform any specific rep duties in order to receive the attendance allowance, apart from attending the meeting and attending the inital training.
The Union acknowedges that it is now the norm for students to work part time and the attendance allowance is in recognition of the fact that students are choosing to spend their time enhancing their academic experience and that of their fellow students .
