The UWE Community Volunteer Programme has landed in the Union…and we need you! We are looking for clubs and societies to get in the volunteering mood, and help us to run some spectacular events. It’s time to think about the Sports and Activities Awards too, so get some volunteering under your belt, and stand out from the crowd!
What is CVP?
The UWE Community Volunteer Programme (CVP) helps UWE students and staff to find fantastic volunteering opportunities, helping out the local community. There are hundreds of opportunities on our website, but we’ve also got some Union based projects that we really need your help with!
What’s going on in the Union?
We are looking for Clubs and Societies who want to muck in with two spectacular events this term.
Kids’ Fun Day
Whether you’re a Club or Society, showcase your skills and share your enthusiasm with local kids. We are running a fun day at the centre for sport and we need you to run mini-workshops and tournaments, or do demonstrations. It will be a jam packed day of fun activities, but we can’t do it without you.
If your Club or Society is interested in helping out, contact cvpprojects@uwe.ac.uk , or drop in to see Chris, Jo or Amy in the Sports and Activities Centre.
Campus Clearout ‘08
Get a team together to encourage students to recycle or donate unwanted items to local charities. There are mountains of clutter left behind when students move out of their accommodation at the end of the year. Loads of it is useful stuff that gets thrown away. We need you to help us to give out collection bags, gather up all the donations and pass them on to charities and groups in need across Bristol.
We want to make Campus Clearout an annual event. Want to get behind this idea? Contact cvpprojects@uwe.ac.uk , or drop in to see Chris, Jo or Amy in the Sports and Activities Centre.
If you want to find out about other volunteer opportunities, have a look at our website. There’ll be something to suit you. Here are a few roles to give you a taster:
- Helping to maintain nature reserves
- Mentoring people with autism
- Supporting witnesses in court
- Sitting on management committees of local charities
- Coaching sports teams
- Creating community artworks
- Offering advice to the public at Avon Law Centre
- Dog-walking with the RSPCA
- Providing I.T. support to local charities
- Helping disabled people learn to ride horses
- Working at Citizen's Advice Bureau
- and much more...
