Shop Assistants
The purpose of this role is to assist in the smooth running of the SU shops. Your main responsibility will be to provide a professional service to customers at all times. This will involve cashiering using an EPOS till, possessing good product knowledge, maintaining a clean & hazard-free retail area, filling shelves, stock rotation and assisting with security. You must be able to work quickly & efficiently both alone and in a team, have an outgoing personality, good level of numeracy and a commitment to excellent customer service. Previous experience of handling cash or working in a retail or other customer facing role is desirable but not essential.

Office Services Assistants (Frenchay)
The main purpose of the job is to be the first point of contact for all visitors/customers to UWESU and to provide a professional, friendly service at all times. Duties are similar to those of F.I.T., but also involve answering incoming telephone calls, greeting & directing visitors, dealing with incoming mail, sending & receiving faxes and running the Print Shop. Again, to be successful at this job, you should have good knowledge of Frenchay campus, a positive, friendly & helpful attitude, be able to work quickly, effectively & flexibly as part of a team and have a commitment to excellent customer care. Previous experience of either a customer facing role, handling cash or operating office equipment is desirable but not essential.

Venue Assistants
VAs operate as part of the Venue team, performing a variety of duties to ensure all venues operate to the highest possible standard. Your main responsibility will be to provide assistance to customers, helping to maintain a fun, safe environment and encouraging their return. Duties will include working at venue entrance/exits (taking money & selling tickets,), setting up and running of the venue in line with set procedures and maintaining the cleanliness of all areas at all times. Previous experience of one or more of the following would be desirable: cash handling, bar/cellar work, food preparation or experience in any customer facing role. You must have excellent customer care awareness, a good level of numeracy, the ability to operate effectively both alone & as a part of a team, and the ability to work under pressure. Other desirable attributes would be the possession of a food hygiene certificate or door safe badge.

Membership Services Assistants
Working in the Activities Centre at Frenchay and in Student Union campus offices. You will handle enquires & provide admin support for Activities Centre staff and Site Activities and Services Co-ordinators, including dealing with photocopying, faxing and telephone calls. Providing information to students about the student union's range of activities will also form a large part of the role as well as ensuring membership information training records and financial details are kept up to date and other administrative duties. To be successful in this position, you must work efficiently without direct supervision, have excellent interpersonal & telephone skills and be extremely organised. Also desirable are a broad knowledge of UWESU activities and computer literacy in word processing, databases and spreadsheets.

Freshers Information Team
We need teams of students to work either up to & during, or just during freshers week each year. You will be responsible for processing UWE NUS cards, selling tickets for & promoting freshers events, providing bus information and selling travel cards/bus passes & operating office equipment. Your other big job will be to provide information & advice to new students, helping them to feel a bit more at ease during their first week of mayhem! To be successful at this job, you must have good knowledge of the campus on which you are working, a positive, friendly & helpful attitude, be able to work quickly, effectively & flexibly as part of a team and have good customer care awareness. Previous experience of either a customer facing role, handling cash or operating office equipment is desirable but not essential.

Crew
We need a team of students to work Friday evenings, the occasional weekend and during Freshers to set up PA equipment and prepare venues for Student Union events. To be successful in this position you must be able to work on your own initiative, be able to work quickly, effectively & flexibly as part of a team and work well under pressure. Previous experience of working with PA/electrical equipment is desirable, as is a good understanding of health & safety issues.
Positions are based at Frenchay.
