Katy Phillips selected for the National Students' Forum
The NSF reflects on the way higher education works in Britain and suggest ways in which it can be improved.
Hey guys n girls,
Your SRC Vice President/SRC President elect Katy Phillips has been selected to sit on the National Students' Forum for next year...exciting times!
The NSF is a body of students and sabbatical officers who come together to reflect on the way higher education works in Britain and suggest ways in which it can be improved. We all know that the best way to get feedback on a service is to talk to those that use it, and this is what the Government are aiming to do here. Having someone from UWESU on the forum will really benefit us. UWE students will have a heads up on wider discussions which affect the HE system as a whole, which can give the Students' Union useful information to use when debating issues with the University which affect your UWE experience!
The forums remit is to
- advise Government on the reasonable expectations of students as consumer of the higher education system;
- provide a student perspective on emerging policy areas, feeding views to policy makers (DIUS Ministers, officials and partner organisations);
- help evaluate the impact of existing policy on students;
- initiate discussion on areas of potential policy development
- produce an annual report for ministerial review and response.
And at the beginning of the next academic year the NSF will be setting priority areas for discussion...which means Katy will be coming to you to find out exactly which issues affecting you you want her to take forward. Katy will be reporting back regularly on what happens at these meetings and the feedback she receives.
Any questions/suggestions please don't hesitate to contact src.vicepresident@uwe.ac.uk
