You could be a Student Governor!

UWE is giving one student the opportunity to be one of the governing members on the Board of Governors. This is a real opportunity to get involved in how the University is run and develops.

The Board of Governors is the Governing Body of the University and carries responsibility for ensuring the effective management of the Institution and for planning its future development. It is the Board that has ultimate responsibility for all the affairs of the University.

The Board comprises of Governors, most of whom are appointed from outside the University and (number) are appointed from within the University, including the SRC President.

Eligibility

To become a considered for the role of Student Governor you must be a current registered student of UWE.

How often do the Governors Meet?

Approx 3 times a year.

The meeting dates for 07/08 are:-

Monday 26th November 07

Monday 10th March 08

Monday 7th July 08

The meetings are held at 5.00pm at Frenchay Campus

How to a get Elected?

The student representative members of SRC (Student Rep Council) decide and vote on who they wish to become the Student Governor, this is then agreed by the Board.

Student Governor nomination forms are available on the web Nomination Form . Completed forms must be received by email to nerys.neath@uwe.ac.uk no later than Monday 5th November at noon.

The election will take place at the Student Representative Council meeting which take place on Thursday 8th November at 6.00pm room 2S703.

Each candidate will be given an opportunity to speak for 2 minutes on why they believe they would make a good student governor for UWE.

Full briefings and support training session will be given to the successful candidate.
