UWE Students' Union - enhancing the student experience - blackadder.uwesu.org

Accessibility

The UWESU web team is working towards providing a website that can be easily used and accessed by all types of users.

Activity in this area includes;

  • Working to web standards and guidelines of W3C
  • Using best practices in web design for accessibility
  • Testing for cross browser and cross platform support using browsercam.com

The majority of our web information is now provided via content management system (EZ Publish ) which generally supports web standards and web accessibility.

Other parts of the UWESU website

Some aspects of our website use popular third party application such as the following.

3rd Party Applications
To a much larger extent we are dependent on the above producers of these applications to meet web standards and accessibility guidelines but this is an issue we will strive to review and monitor.

Sub sites
Websites are also created by many other members of the Students' Union who are not a part of the Web Team staff such as sports and society organisers. Such "sub sites" are often made by an individual student on a volunteer basis. Under these circumstances it may often be the case that their sites have not been designed using web standards and meeting accessibility requirements.

UWE Web Standards
We are also striving to follow where appropriate the advice and guidelines of the UWE Web Standards group.

If you have any problems using our websites or any comments about them then please get in touch. email: suweb
